At EuforaColor, we LOVE toning to customize the colorful results for each salon guest. Here are our FAVORITE toning formulas along with notes for you to consider in the process.

We hope this inspires you to incorporate custom toning on every highlight guest you service. The most important rule to remember is to have fun and be brave. Once you understand the basic rules of toning, you have an entire world of color at your fingertips!

LEVEL 10 FORMULA ON LEVEL 10
UNDERLYING PIGMENT SWATCH

Cool Beige Blonde

Light Pink Champagne Blonde

Light Rosey Gold Blonde

Light Spicy Ginger Blonde

Light Ash Blonde

Light Opalescent Blonde

Light Blushing Blonde

Artisan Icy White Blonde

Light Butter
Cream Blonde

Icy White Blonde

Note: On level 10 pre-lightened hair, the full tonal effect and vibrancy will be evident when using a level 8 and 9 toner formula. Diluting the formula with EuforaColor No Ammonia Clear Shine Dilute (CSD) will dilute the formula, diffusing the vibrancy and soften the reflection depending on the amount used.

When ½ the formula is CSD, you can anticipate the diffusion of the tone to reflect 1 level lighter than the tonal shade being used in the formula.

IMPORTANT: When toning, the starting level (accurate level the hair has been pre-lightened too) and porosity are major influencers of the end result reflection.

LEVEL 10 FORMULA ON LEVEL 9 UNDERLYING PIGMENT SWATCH

Beige Blonde

Champagne Blonde

Rosey Gold Blonde

Spicy Ginger Blonde

Ash Blonde

Opalescent Blonde

Blushing Blonde

Artisan White Blonde

Butter Cream Blonde

White Blonde

Note: When coloring hair, there are only 3 tonal actions that you must consider: We use the term B.E.N. to identify which action you will use:

(B) Balance – soften the remaining pigment (ULP) resulting in a neutral or slightly warm reflection (ex. Beige). This can be accomplished by designing a toner at level. Example: Level 9 toners on Level 9 ULP. Double pigmented shades such as .11 will offer more color deposit and more control allowing for a more (N) Neutralized reflection. IMPORTANT: Take note of the difference of color reflection when the same toner formula is placed on a Level 9 swatch in comparison to a Level 10 swatch. The ULP has a dramatic impact on the final tonal reflection.

(E) Enhance – use the remaining pigment (ULP) to support the toner being used resulting in a warm reflection (ex. Spicy Ginger)

(N) Neutralize – eliminating all warmth exposed from the ULP. This requires that hair must be lifted ½ -1 level lighter than the desired end result. This allows the dye load of the toner to full neutralize the unwanted warmth. Micro Toning and Galvanizing are excellent formulation strategies to achieve consistent and exceptional results when cool results are desired. (Ultra-White Blonde)

LEVEL 9 FORMULA ON LEVEL 9
UNDERLYING PIGMENT SWATCH

 Light Brownish Blonde

Light Bronzy Blonde

Light Honeyed Blonde

Soft Pearl Haze Blonde

Light Peachy Blonde

Note: Hair pre-lightened to level 9 offers a definite yellow ULP that must be factored into the formulation considerations. Level 8 toners offer more control to this level when a more balanced or cool result is desired. Do not be afraid to play with small amounts of creative tones to create interesting reflections inspiring that second look at your blonde’s hair!

LEVEL 8 FORMULA ON LEVEL 8
UNDERLYING PIGMENT SWATCH

Brownish Blonde

Bronzy Blonde

Honeyed Blonde

Golden Violet Blonde

Pearl Haze Blonde

Peachy Blonde

Note: Hair pre-lightened to level 8 will have a definite golden yellow tone. The golden ULP can present a bit more challenge when the desired end result is cool. When designing cool toners anticipate that they will reflect slightly darker than a balanced or warm toner at the same level. To (N) Neutralize level 8 hair, consider using a level 7 or level 7.5 toner or pre tone with a galvanizing formula to eliminate any remaining golden yellow from the canvas.
